About
For RIP Swirl’s SLIPPING MY MIND / LOVE SONG, the first visual release from his album BLURRY, we developed a continuous narrative connecting two contrasting visual worlds through a single, uninterrupted camera movement. Beginning with a dark, lo-fi black-and-white performance reminiscent of distorted VHS recordings, the film gradually reveals itself to be playing on an old television inside a faded 1990s karaoke bar. As the camera pulls back, RIP Swirl performs alongside a drummer while different couples take turns on the dance floor. What begins as an almost nostalgic, playful scene gradually takes a darker turn, slipping into a series of fragmented, psychedelic images. Blending analog imperfections with surreal, cinematic references, we created a visual journey between two songs, where nostalgia gives way to something increasingly unsettling, blurring the boundaries between memory, performance and reality.
